Obtaining

A Parent Visa

Citizens Canada can obtain Canadian residency for their parents in two ways: parental sponsorship and supervision. This person, who is currently in Canada and has allowed his or her parents to immigrate to Canada, is called a Sponsor. Every year, a number of applications are accepted in the parent sponsorship department for permanent residence in Canada, which in 2018 was equal to 10,000 applications . People who come to Canada in this way are considered permanent residents and can apply for a citizenship after the legal period.

To apply for this procedure, a resident of Canada must meet the following conditions:

  • Be a Permanent Resident or Citizen of Canada
  • Be over 18 years old
  • The sponsor must sign a letter (Undertaking) stating that all of their parents will pay for the next 20 years
  • Does not have any obligations to the Government of Canada regarding its previous sponsors
  • If the sponsor requests financial support from the Government of Canada, the sponsor must bear all costs
